I Am Totally In Love!!!

The new line is finished and words cannot express how in love I am with the new line!

Getting to this place has been bittersweet, I had to say goodbye to Lulu Beauty, a line that has been a huge part of my life for almost 15 years.  I had to say goodbye to my old packaging that still delighted me, and I’m saying goodbye to a couple fragrances that just don’t serve me anymore.  I will be forever grateful for having all of the wonderful experiences that I had with Lulu Beauty.  Sephora, Nordstrom, Madonna, Tori Spelling…you made it all super fun for me!

But now I have reinvented my perfume line to be 100% me.  Who I am now, and who I aspire to be.  My life has changed tremendously since I became a Mother.  I have truly learned the value of being 100% authentic for myself and everyone around me.  I am no longer afraid of so many things that terrorized me before, and I have discovered new things that are even scarier than I could imagine!  Olivine Atelier is a new representation of my life, my memories that have made my life incredible and my hopes for what my life will become.

And now for the confusing part!!  I have re-branded four of my old fragrances into the new line, and I will be introducing four new ones over the next year.  Here is your little cheat sheet for your beloved favorites:

Dame = Oxley

Starlet = Olivine

Miss Anastasia = Full Regalia

She Belongs There still equals She Belongs There!

In July I will be launching Amongst The Waves which is hands down my favorite fragrance to date, and I can’t stop wearing it!!  With every full size bottle purchased I will be including a sample of Amongst The Waves to whet your appetite!  I will continue to do this until the perfume is launched in July.

We have a new Etsy store to shop in and everything is available at Olivine as well.  Keep checking back because we plan to be in a lovely boutique near you very soon!!

xoxo…Julie

My Current Obsession

I found this course about a month ago and I swear it has changed my life in ways that I never thought possible.

**On a side note, this blog post may end up sounding like an infommercial, but I swear I am not getting paid for this, I am just 100% totally and completely sold on all of it!!

Dressing Your Truth is an online course that beautifully merges style and self love, my two favorite things.  I was introduced to the course by a friend quite a while ago who swore up and down that I should take it.   I will admit that I was initially turned off by the course because I wasn’t all that impressed by the style. The creator wasn’t my style so how could this possibly be right for me?  I let curiosity take the lead though, paid the money and will never look back.  It has changed my style, my relationship with my family and most of all my relationship with myself.  I gave the program to my Mom and my assistant and they have both had the same experience.

by DesignLoveFest

Dressing Your Truth is a process where you find out which type of woman you are.
Type 1 = Bright and Animated Woman
Type 2 = Soft and Subtle Woman
Type 3 = Rich and Dynamic Woman
Type 4 = Bold and Striking Woman
Figuring out which type of woman you are is actually quite difficult.  Part of the process is figuring out who you truly are…Not what your parents tried to mold you into, not how you want to be to impress your friends, not what the media has been drilling into you your whole life and most likely it is quite the opposite of what you think/want your type to be.  I turned out to be a Type 4, it was the only type that I really didn’t want to be!

**Another side note…The key message I got from all of this is that every woman is beautiful, every single one of us.  The moment that we realize that who we truly are is beautiful (and not this facade that we have been putting up for 10, 20, 30 years), then our true light will come beaming out of us.

After you figure out your type you learn all about the clothing, jewelry, accessories, hair color, hair style and makeup that is perfect for your type.  My inner critic thought again, “this is ridiculous!” but curiosity won out in the end.  I cut my hair in a totally new style, I’ve been wearing things I never would have worn, I have all new makeup colors in my medicine cabinet…And I look and feel amazing!

I seriously want every woman to do this course.  They have a great return policy if you don’t like it.  The catch though is that you have to be willing to change.  You have to be willing to take a chance and try something completely new.  That is f*%cking scary!!!

This is a great video from a woman talking about the huge changes that Dressing Your Truth has made in her life.  Be prepared though, when she talks about how it has changed her relationship with her daughter it totally made me teary…

This beautiful girl is 16 years old and I love what she has to say about herself at the very end about how this program has changed her feelings about herself. I wish I could have said that at 16!

The course to find out your type is free.  The course to find out what the heck to do with your type isn’t cheap, but I promise you that it will take your life, your style, your relationships and your self love to a whole new level!

For The Love Of Perfume + A Giveaway!

My latest and greatest perfume Anastasia

My friends and business colleagues are always telling me that I don’t talk about my perfume line nearly enough.  Oddly, many people are surprised when I tell them that I even have a line of perfume!  OK friends, you made your point.  So here goes…

The core collection that started it all!

I love perfume.  When I was an adorable little girl I used to take all of my allowance money and spend it on (cheap) perfumes at the drugstore.  My friends were buying candy, I was buying perfume and beauty items.  When I was 18 I spent 6 months traveling around Australia, it was there that I first discovered the art of aromatherapy and perfumery.  I was hooked.  When I was 24 I opened my first store called Aromatica, it was a store dedicated to perfume blending and it was a dream come true.

Dame EDT, yummy!

About 10 years ago I created Lulu Beauty which is still going strong and making women smell beautiful all over the world.  All of my perfumes are blended by hand in small batches with lots of love.  For a time I was selling to Sephora, Nordstrom and boutiques all over the country.  I had celebrities like Madonna, Tori Spelling, Debra Messing, Josie Bissett, Virginia Madsen and Teri Hatcher anointing themselves with MY fragrances!  Yet another dream come true.

She Belongs There solid perfume

I still have the same core collection of fragrances that I love and adore, and every year or so I can’t help but add another one!  Last year I launched She Belongs There, and just this week I launched Miss Anastasia.  I have given samples to 6 of my girlfriends this week and they have all turned around and bought a bottle saying it was the best thing they have smelled in forever.  Hearing someone say that about a perfume I created is yet another dream come true.

I sell my current collection at boutiques all over the country, as well as at Olivine and my Etsy shop (the only place to buy samples).

And hello GIVEAWAY!!!  Leave a comment below with your favorite fragrance of all time below (it doesn’t have to be one of mine to win!!) and you will be entered to win a full size bottle of my new Miss Anastasia perfume oil.  I swear, it should come with a stick to keep the boys away when you are wearing it!  I will announce the winner on Friday, so be sure to check back and see if you won!

If you want to know more about me and my businesses then you should sign up for A LOVELY VENTURE!  It is my online class for women that want to start a business, or take the business they already have and make it sparkle.  And I must say, it totally ROCKS!

A Reminder

perfect, perfect Barbie found here

If you’re anything like most women, you’ve spent the last two months mowing down holiday goodies, celebrating the crisp weather with the consumption of mounds of pasta and generally consuming twice your normal caloric intake.

And shockingly enough, all that mowing? It’s not great for the hip and thigh area. And, looking through women’s magazines at the nail salon? Not great for the self esteem area.

So in honor of this month, the official month of Weight Loss Resolutions, let’s run a few numbers, shall we?

  • 5’11″ and 117 pounds: The average height and weight of an American runway model
  • 5’4″ and 140 pounds: The average height and weight of an American woman
  • 40: Percent of of fashion models that are estimated to have eating disorders
  • 98: Percent of the population that fashion models are thinner than
  • 39 FF: The size of Barbie’s breasts if she were a real woman
  • 3: How many times larger her head would be than a normal human’s
  • 39-21-33: Her bust/waist/hip measurements if she were to spring to life
  • 1 in 100,000: The likelihood of these measurements occurring naturally in any member of the female population
  • 3: How many well-known models that have died from malnutrition
  • 70: How many different Photoshop techniques are often applied to magazine photos
  • 15: How many times I’ve watched Dove’s Evolution video on the fine art of photo editing.

How comfortable are you with your body?

How To Keep From Looking Like A Lizard This Winter

source

The sad truth…If we don’t take care of our skin then it will get us back somehow in the long run…Wrinkles, age spots, dry patches, lifeless grey cast and the dreaded lizard skin.  Lucky for us, there are people that have made it their life’s mission to sell us product after product to fix those problems.  In this article I would like to share a few of my faves that are necessary for this time of year.  By the way, if you are 20 and you don’t think this applies to you?  Trust me, when you are 40 you will wish that you had listened!!

Do you have a Clarisonic yet?  If you don’t then now is the time to invest.  I prefer the smaller ‘Mia’ travel size because it is way cheaper and does the same thing.  This is the ultimate exfoliator for all skin types.  It will keep you from breaking out in the summer and it will keep the dry flaky skin at bay in the winter.

I like to switch to a cleansing water in the winter as using excess water to wash your face can actually dry it out.  This one from Nuxe is beautiful, although Gwyneth Paltrow mentioned it on her blog today, so it might be sold out everywhere!

I love a facial oil, and I use this one from Suki all winter long every single night.

Have you discovered dry brushing yet?  This one is my favorite and a must before every shower!

source

I love to use coconut oil when I am still wet from a shower or bath.  The bonus is that it also reminds me a little of being at the beach, and really, what could be better?  Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, so I leave mine in the shower and by the time I get out it is a liquid.  These are my absolute favorites and I stock up by the suitcase when I am on Kauai!

source

The more water you drink, the more hydrated you will be, the more amazing your skin will look.  While you are hydrating your skin with water, you might want to take some fish oil or flax seed oil at the same time.  (By the way, I’ve been buying all my supplements at iherb.com, and they’ve offered my readers a $5.00 discount with the code QUJ158, woohoo!).

Do you have a favorite winter product that you would like to share?  I want to know about it!

Who wears Butter London Nail Polish anyways?

source

An ode to my favorite nail polish line of all time.  These might not be 100% accurate, but it’s worth a shot…

The Old Bill (light pink)

Lucy fancied herself a lady and genuinely enjoyed the rites of womanhood – underwire bras, control top pantyhose, clickity clacking heels. Her two favorite moments in her morning were 1) tightly cinching her belt around her waist 2) drinking peppermint tea out of her grandmother’s china, pinkie raised.

La Moss (dark red)

Thin as a whistle, Leslie enjoyed the juxtaposition of wearing fashionably sloppy clothes over her tiny body. She also enjoyed her comfy, cozy jersey knits because they allowed her to nap under under her desk during lunch hour.  She would often ruin her manicure within two days because she’d bite her nails during Grey’s Anatomy.

British Racing Green (dark green)
Annalise really wasn’t much of a rocker, but she liked to look like one. Actually, she preferred old Joni Mitchell and late 90s Ani DiFranco. She did, however, own a vintage Vespa and liked assembling ‘themed’ outfits that she imagined complimented her scooter. She wasn’t sure that leather pants and scooters actually worked together, but they protected her from the October fog and the odd spill when she mistook the gas for the brake.

Jaffa (orange)
Jane was willfully, blissfully unaware of white shoe/labor day, cleavage/workplace fashion dictates. Thus, she was not put off when her fellow accountants clicked their tongues and rolled their eyes at her choice of footwear. She reasoned that if they didn’t appreciate silver pumps at the Monday staff meeting, that was their problem.

All Hail The Queen (grey)
Alice usually spent Saturday nights in at the studio, working with charcoals and paints.  She’d drink pots off coffee and tangerines throughout the night and then bike home through quiet streets as the sun rose over the city.

Did you want to win a Butter London Nail Polish of your choice?  Go to this post and leave a comment to win before June 9th!!!
