I have to say, I never even gave a thought to having boudoir photos done until I got pregnant. I knew I wanted to have some maternity photos done, but everything I looked at was beyond boring. It was only then that I discovered the art of boudoir photography. I did my photos with Christina Mallet of Katrinka’s Secret and they are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
In order to really prove it to you I am going to devote this entire week to boudoir photography. Enjoy!!

So here are my top 10 reasons why a boudoir photo shoot should be a requirement:
1. If you have never had a professional photo shoot then you are in for an addicting surprise! Makeup, Hair, Fancy Lights, Photoshop + Professional Photographer = You looking more amazing than you ever thought possible.
2. Yes, you can be naked and still look amazing on camera. Boudoir photographers know every trick in the book to get you to look sexy on camera. These photographers work with women every day that want to hide certain bits and flaunt others. It is their job to know every pose in the book that is going to do this. By the way, you DO NOT have to get naked!
3. You look perfect today, and today is the day to flaunt it. There is no sense waiting until you lose the baby weight, get the boob job or can afford the right lingerie for the shoot. If you think you are going to look better in 6 months you are wrong, because like I said, you look perfect today.

4. It makes the perfect gift for your boyfriend/husband/lover/girlfriend…Or even better just for you! If you can show me one guy that doesn’t go speechless with delight (desire) when his lady gives him boudoir photos, then I’ll pay for the photo shoot.
5. Putting together the outfits is so much fun! You get to choose who you want to be for an afternoon. Sexy black lace, bondage, schoolgirl, pinup, bridal white, the options are endless and the shopping is fantastic.
6. Perhaps you have a milestone that you would like to celebrate? Getting married, just quit your job, pregnant, just had a baby, retired, divorced, just about anything really!
7. It’s a chance to be truly glamorous for a day. How many of us do our hair and makeup and put on pretty things the way we would REALLY like to? This is your chance to be as girly as you want to be.

8. A good boudoir photographer will have a person for hair/makeup and perhaps an assistant in addition to themselves. These people are all there to make sure you are the star of your photo shoot. They will help you with outfits, poses and looks. You don’t have to do anything but be fawned over and maybe have a glass of champagne if you are so inclined.
9. It will shock your friends, they will be crazy jealous and they will all go do it after you. You will start a movement of women that feel incredibly sexy and have the photos to prove it.
10. Every woman should have at least one photo of themselves that makes them feel all giddy inside when they look at it. This would be that photograph…

Christina Mallet is the genius behind Katrinka’s Secret as seen in all of these photos. She is in beautiful downtown Seattle.
Also in Seattle…Seattle Boudoir Photography, Belle Boudoir and Old School Pinups looks super fun!
Stay tuned this week as I introduce you to a couple other amazing boudoir photographers, give you some tips on where to shop for your photo shoot as well as how to get ready for the fun day. This is going to be a fun week!!

Great article!
I shared this link on my fanpage, http://www.facebook.com/JazzyPhotoFan, and I agree with you 100%. The longer you wait to do one of these shoots the more you will talk yourself out of it. But I have never had someone displeased with the results of a shoot.
Thanks for putting it in words!

Hey! I love this post–but I must point a couple things out: a “good photographer” may not have a makeup artist/hairstylist but if someone has never done a shoot before, perhaps it’s easier to find a photographer who does so they don’t have to do much but look beautiful
Here’s a photographer in Portland who doesn’t have a MUA/hairstylist (though I’m sure doesn’t oppose them), but his work is as naturally beautiful as I’ve seen (and the sweetest/most respectful guy, too): http://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/2379923/viewall (you may have to click Toggle Worksafe Mode: *Off*)
Anyway, thanks for the post!
