How to be absolutely exquisite…

Admit it, we all want to be thought of as exquisite.  What a sexy word to roll around in your mouth a few times.  Go ahead, try it…

For this little mini lesson we will borrow a few tips from the courtesans of France and Italy that made a career out of being exquisite…

No. 1  Find the humor in life.  Life is funny.  People are funny.  Sex is funny.  Stop taking everything so seriously all the time.

No. 2  Slow down.  Eat slowly and pay attention to every bite.  Walk slowly and notice the flowers, the crack in the sidewalk, the couple kissing on the corner.  Listen to some nice, slow, sultry music.

No. 3  Flirt.  Flirting is merely enjoying yourself in the presence of others, it is not trying to get a guy to go home with you.  So practice flirting with some unlikely people…a child, the mail carrier, your boss, the person behind you in line.  Say hello, smile, it’s as easy as that.

No. 5  Make eye contact.  People are interested in people that are interested in them.  Period.  Show your interest in what someone is saying by making eye contact.  When you are speaking to someone try to at least pretend that there is no one else in the room but them.  You will be amazed at the results.

No. 6  Know your current events.  Courtesans were not paid solely for sex.  They were paid for conversation and companionship (as most women at the time were uneducated and made for boring wives).  Read the paper, download the NY Times app on your phone, be able to engage in some witty political banter.

No. 7  Be happy.  Everyone gravitates to the happy person in the room.  Sulking in the corner might make you mysterious, but it isn’t really exquisite.

No. 8  Really really listen.  On the phone, in person, stop multi-tasking (even in your mind!) while you are talking to someone.  The theory here is that you want full engagement with your friend/lover/barista/child.   Everyone benefits from this, even you!

BONUS!  As often as possible, do not leave the house without lingerie that makes you feel sexy and lip gloss that makes you feel pretty.

There you have it, you are now exquisite and ready to entice the world!  When you are in your exquisite place people will be drawn to you.
